Greeter Sue Maes told us about herself, promising something new. She's married to Dennis Hemmendinger and has a son & daughter and 3 grands. Sue retired after nearly 50 years at K-State, from undergrad to Dean, and was appointed by President McCain. She was a founder of UFM, which spawned the Farmers' Market and a forum for non-traditional education. Her joy at KSU was extending the University across Kansas and the midwest which eventually became the Global Campus. Her current passions are Fairy Godmothers, awarding over 45 scholarships, and Manhattan Parks & Rec.
The new fact about Sue is that she began and ended an acting career by the 8th grade!

We recognized 4 long-term members with anniversaries in November of 146 years: Bob Haines, Mitzi Richards, Tom Roberts and David Kreller.
I announced we had received a $1,000 Rotary Foundation donation from The Stolzer Family Foundation, and thank-you notes from Shepherd's Crossing and Woodrow Wilson School.

Steven Graham then introduced our speaker, Dr. Tim Steffensmeier, Assistant Vice President of Engagement & Outreach within the K-State Office of External Engagement. He leads the creation of partnerships with private and public sector groups while building faculty & staff for external engagement.

Tim spoke about their mission to serve all 105 counties in Kansas, started from the original Research & Extension presence to efforts that include all the Colleges' areas of expertise. He highlighted the K-State Technology Development Institute and collaboration with the University of Kansas Health System.

Tim introduced an data resource "All Things Kansas" at http://k-state.edu/allthingskansas and the information it contains.

*****
On behalf of Tim, we donated the children's book "I Am NOT a Chicken" to the Amanda Arnold School. We also distributed his slideshow via email.
